Jemez convinced me says Bueno

New Rayo Vallecano signing Alberto Bueno says it was Los Franjirrojos’ boss Paco Jemez who convinced him to join the Madrid club.

The 25-year-old striker, who was signed from Real Valladolid this week and officially unveiled at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas on Friday evening, also insisted he was happy to return to the city of his birth and told of his reasons.

“I spoke to Paco Jemez during negotiations and it was a short conversation, but he told me he had confidence in me and was happy about my possible arrival,” Bueno told gathered media.

“From the outside the opinion I get of him is that he is very good as he is experienced and shows he likes to play good football, which is one of the reasons why I made this decision.

“Rayo were interested in me last year. I’m from Madrid and that was also a significant factor. To come home is important to me and I’m looking forward to working hard.

“I arrived here yesterday and there were still a few things to resolve, but I had already made my mind up to start work here,” he admitted.

Bueno has penned a two-year deal with Rayo and maintains he has come to the club to ‘contribute and learn’.

“I want to enjoy my football because I feel privileged to be here and want to contribute and learn from a very young and capable squad.” he said, but declined to promise how many goals he would score next term.

“I feel more comfortable playing just behind the main striker, but I’ll adapt to the needs of the team and the boss.

“I want to enjoy it, to feel important, but don’t want to set a target. I’m lucky enough to be in the Primera Division and not everyone can say that, so hopefully I can repeat what I did last season,” he concluded.
