Mallorca confirm Oltra as Coach

Recently relegated Mallorca have turned to former Deportivo Coach Jose Luis Oltra as their next Coach.

Oltra, who was sacked by Depor in January just six months after leading them back into La Liga, replaces Gregorio Manzano, who was not handed a new contract last week.

Acting President Lorenc Serra Ferrer indicated that Paco Herrera was in pole position to take over that the recently-relegated outfit, but negotiations reportedly stalled over the length of contract on offer for the former Celta Vigo man.

Subsequently, talks were called off and links with Oltra soon emerged, with it understood that the former Depor Coach was more open to Mallorca’s one-year offer, with the promise of a second year only on the table if promotion was achieved.

The club have today confirmed via their official Twitter account that 44-year-old has been appointed, via  brief statement.

“Jose Luis Oltra, new Coach of Mallorca,” read the posting today.

“The official presentation will take place today at 6pm at the Iberostar Stadium.”
