‘I always try to do my best’

Diego Lopez reflected after a strong performance against Real Sociedad that he is only trying to make the most of every chance he gets at Real Madrid.

The 31-year-old, who has kept Iker Casillas out of the team since arriving in January, produced a number of saves in Madrid’s entertaining 3-3 draw at La Real on Sunday evening.

“I tried to make the most of the chance as I do every time. At Real Madrid it is hard to be sad,” commented Lopez post-match.

“I always try to do my best. I have already said that every minute for Real Madrid is golden and what I want to do is make the most of every opportunity I get to play.

“It was a very open match which they needed to win and pushed forward. We suffered in defence but we did the job and we were able to stay ahead until the end and that speaks well of us.

“Real Sociedad are a good team and played well. Also, their need to qualify for the Champions League did the rest because they had a lot to play for.

“It is hard to win here and it is a shame that we were not able to finish the away league season with a win, but they deserved a draw for their big push.”
