Juninho: Neymar closer to Barca

Former Atletico Madrid man Juninho has reflected on the upcoming Copa del Rey Final, as well as the continued speculation surrounding Neymar.

The former Brazilian international’s compatriot is being strongly linked with a move to La Liga this summer, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona said to be interested.

“I believe that he is closer to Barcelona,” reflected Juninho to Onda Cero this week.

“Everyone sees Neymar as leaving Santos this summer and it has always been said that he is going to Barcelona. He needs an experience in Europe.

“I see him enjoying Barcelona a little more for the way they play, for their style of play. I think he would fit in better there than in other teams.”

Juninho, who spent two years in the Atletico Madrid first team, turned his attention to his former side ahead of their Copa del Rey Final against a Real Madrid side that they have not beaten since his days at the club.
“When there is a large imbalance it is difficult, but this match in particular is a final, the players are going to be much more focused than in the League. In this match, Atletico might win at the Bernabeu.

“When I played at Atletico we have a very competitive team that compared with Madrid’s. We went to the Bernabeu and had great personality, we played very well.

“Simeone? He loves the fans and the club. As a player he did an awesome job, and when he played he always guided his teammates, he always had coaching in his blood.”
