Luis Garcia praised Getafe for their performance to defeat Real Sociedad on Monday evening and continue their late European push.
The Madrid side ran out 2-1 winners in front of their home crowd in Week 34 thanks to Pedro Leon and Abdel Barrada, and even after Carlos Vela had given the visitors at fourth-minute lead.
“The game was very complete. They took the lead quickly and we were fortunate to bounce back so well,” commented Garcia at full-time.
“The key was staying focused in the game. We have given them almost no chances, they have created very few.
“It was a key game for us to keep dreaming and keep fighting. I’m happy for everyone.”
Garcia notably started playmaker Angel Lafita in a lone striking role.
“It is the first time we have played him as a striker. I was looking for a more physical presence. With this game, we wanted quality and more physicality.
“He deserved a goal in the last play.
“We went five games without a win, we looked for things to change and Lafita and [midfielder] Lacen came in and worked out.
“We are now two points away from seventh.”
