Djukic to maintain style at Madrid

Miroslav Djukic has promised Real Valladolid’s effort to play to style against Real Madrid and their commitment to pick up further points this season.

The Castilians sit in mid-table comfort ahead of Saturday’s trip to the Santiago Bernabeu, which opens up a five-game season run-in of games against the top two in Spain interspersed with tests against three of the current bottom four.

“It’s always special to play against one of the best teams in the world, we all want to play these games and enjoy them. We will go for the win and to pick up the points,” Djukic delivered in his pre-match assessment to reporters.

“It will be very difficult, but we try to remain true to our style of play that through the season has been maturing and gaining confidence and that we have been able to stand up to opponents with.

“Is our current 40-point tally enough for survival? We have entered the decisive phase and every team pushes up, to cling on to what they have and to give everything of themselves, and we must to the same and not spend all day with our calculator.

“Regardless of their Champions League elimination, we will come up against a Real Madrid this weekend that has to defend its honour and its shirt in its own field.”
