Djukic: The goal is survival

Miroslav Djukic reminded reporters that Real Valladolid’s only goal this season is to ensure League survival, not look to Europe.

A draw on Sunday evening at home to Sevilla sees Valladolid sitting 12th in the table on 40 points, 10 clear of the dropzone.

“It is a small point more, we are closer to our goal. We cannot be sure of much, but the feelings are good and I am happy with the team’s work, the delivery, fight…” reflected Djukic post-match.

“The second half was more open, we quickly conceded during it for a very controversial move that was really a handball, but it comes from a bounce and was unintentional. We cannot influence that.

“We had more clarity, more opportunities, more shots, we were playing against Sevilla, a team made for the Champions League and we fought face to face, playing one on one.

“Can we get to Europe? We will guarantee survival with 45 points, then we will see if we are capable of something more.

“The goal is survival. We will go forward humbly, quietly and we will not do so by looking for Europe, because we are yet to achieve survival.”
