Valencia Coach Ernesto Valverde has conceded that Real Sociedad are now in prime spot to take the fourth and final Champions League qualification berth.
Fourth place La Real defeated fifth place Los Che 4-2 on Sunday evening to open up a five-point gap in the race for the final prized position in La Liga.
“La Real are now favourites for fourth place, but we cannot be ruled out. We will keep fighting until the end,” commented Valverde post-match.
“The first half was very even and it was a shame for us not to go in at the break with the score in our favour. Then, from their second goal we were exposed a lot more and then came the third goal for La Real.
“This game has been very difficult against a team as fit as Real Sociedad.”
Valverde would not be drawn on Real goalkeeper Claudio Bravo’s apparent handball outside the area that was not whistled for.
