‘Valencia better under pressure’

Ernesto Valverde has reflected that Valencia travel out to Real Sociedad under more pressure than their opponents, but that pressure is good for them.

Los Che are two points and a position behind fourth-place Real heading into Week 33’s clash in what is being billed as a decider for the final Champions League qualification spot.

“It’s as close to a final that we can play. Real Sociedad have had an awesome run in their last 19 games and three points will mean a lot here,” Valverde told reporters at his Press conference today.

“If we win will overtake them, if we lose we fall behind and if we draw we remain two points behind. It is a final and more important than the match against Malaga.

“The game has a lot pressure, the two teams are playing for a lot, whilst perhaps we are under more pressure than La Real.

“But we like it that way, we love to have that pressure because it makes us play better, when we are under pressure we are generally better.

“I do not know if we will win or not, it depends on the game, our success, but it will be a game with many attractions.

“We will play to our best, I do not know if it will be decisive or not, because we will still have five games left.

“This week is an acid test, but the tests are ongoing, every week is a test for something for us to overcome.

“If we win this weekend then the next games against Osasuna and Rayo Vallecano will be tests. Every week you have to compete.”
