‘Valencia our biggest game in years’

Real Sociedad’s Markel Bergara believes next weekend’s Champions League qualification showdown with Valencia is the club’s biggest game of recent years.

An extended unbeaten run in the second half of the season has seen La Real push up to the fourth and final Champions Leauge qualification spot.

Next weekend they face off at home to Los Che, with the Valencian outfit two points and one place behind in the battle for a place in UEFA’s premier competition.

For Real’s midfielder, the Week 33 test is set as the club’s biggest game for a number of years.

“It’s the biggest game not only of this year but also of recent years,” Bergara told his club’s official website today.

“It would be an incredible achievement for a club like Real. Getting the three points would be an important step towards that goal we desire.

“Valencia are cured of fear in this respect, because they have for many years been fighting for this objective, the Champions League, so they are more accustomed to it.

“We are inexperienced players in that sense, but we will try with our ambition to meet all their quality.”
