‘Celta didn’t deserve this’

Celta Vigo Coach Abel Resino was downbeat after watching his side lose to a last-minute goal at Mallorca.

Giovani dos Santos popped up at the death to secure the three points for the Balearic Islands outfit and push Celta below them into 20th position in La Liga.

“It is very hard to take what has happened. The team did not deserve to lose and much less so in this way,” lamented Resino afterwards.

“The guys tell me that there have been two very clear penalties for us and that has not helped either. It was a game to at least get a point from, on how it developed, especially in the second half, and in the end we leave empty-handed.

“The result has been very hard and unfair on Celta because we had the game in our hands, it seemed that at least we would get a point and now we have nothing.”

The visitors had claims for more than the one penalty during the 90.

“From the bench it is impossible to see. But the boys are very hurt because I’m told that they were very clear.

“Moreover, as I have explained, one sending off [from one of the claims] would have meant a game very clearly set towards us with time remaining to the end.”
