Paco Jemez reflected that the difference between Rayo Vallecano and Real Valladolid on Sunday was the mistakes made by his side.

Rayo fell to a 2-1 home defeat in Week 25 to make it two defeats on the bounce, after the previous week’s reverse at Real Madrid.

For Jemez, this result was frustrating, as he felt his team could and should have been the better side.

“We lacked accuracy at times, we have failed in areas where we have not had to risk things as much as we did,” reflected the tactician afterwards.

“It is our own work that has led to inaccuracies that prevented the win.

“Valladolid completely changed their game. We did not win because of our mistakes which they took advantage of, otherwise they would not have won the game like that.

“I can accept losing when the opponent is better. Here they have been better by taking advantage of our mistakes.

“Matches like this have to provide something and we have to learn quickly from them, so that these things do not happen again. From this game we can draw many conclusions.

“Occasionally a defeat can be good for the team. We have to do things very well. A little less from the team in intensity and the results will be bad.”
