‘I never wanted to leave Malaga’

Rubin Kazan striker Salomon Rondon has revealed that he never wanted to leave Malaga.

The Venezuelan forward was sold last summer to the Russian club, and the 23-year-old has insisted he would have liked to have stayed in Spain, whilst also commenting on his team's Europa League clash with Atletico Madrid this Thursday.

“I never wanted to leave Malaga,” he told AS. “You'll have to talk to the board members at the club if you want to know anything.

“But I am happy to be playing Russia now.

“It's nice to be playing in the Europa League, and it would be great to score in a stadium as important as Vicente Calderon.”
