‘President, Mourinho or us!’

Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos have allegedly informed Real Madrid President Florentino Perez to choose in the summer between them and Jose Mourinho.

The two players met with Perez and director general Jose Angel Sanchez earlier this week for a lunch to discuss general team affairs.

However, it is believed by Marca today that the two club captains took the chance to issue an ultimatum to Perez and Sanchez – that they remove Mourinho as Coach at the end of the season or they will see ‘several important players’ choose to find work elsewhere.

Mourinho has reportedly clashed during this season with both Casillas and Ramos, whilst the dressing room under him is often speculated as being split into factions.

Marca make clear that this reported threat from Casillas and Ramos is backed by ‘other important members of the first team’, who would ask to be transferred if a change in Coach is not forthcoming in June.

It is understood by the Madrid-based publication that relations between Mourinho and his players has not been the same since the final game of 2012, the 3-2 defeat in Malaga, one in which the Coach dropped Casillas from the starting XI.

The Portuguese is said to have ‘alienated’ players and is not talking to them as he was before, whilst he is described as not believing that they will play for him now as they did before.

Perez’ was said to be ‘not surprised’ by Casillas and Ramos’ declaration earlier this week.
