Eric Abidal is in hospital for between three and four days to undergo tests as part of his recovery from a liver transplant.
The Frenchman underwent the procedure in April, required after undergoing surgery the previous year on a tumour discovered on the organ.
Abidal has recently returned to full training at Barcelona and has already received the medical all clear to resume his playing career again. It is rumoured that he may be declared match fit inside the next month.
Even so, the 33-year-old has been confirmed via a brief statement released by the club to be back in hospital as part of his overall recovery from his transplant.
The defender is set for tests to determine the development of his recovery from the procedure.
