Raphael Varane enthused at seeing his teammates put in a ‘spectacular’ performance in the first half against Valencia on Sunday.
Madrid ran out 5-0 winners thanks to a first-half blitz when all the goals were scored.
“The team played very well, our first half was spectacular and we are happy with the win,” young French defender Varane mused afterwards.
“We always try to play that way, but things don’t always go how we want. Today [Sunday] we were very good and safe at the back.
“The important thing is that when there are players who cannot play, those that do play give their all for the team and do their best.
“We have to go match by match and give our all. The League isn’t over until the end and we'll keep fighting.
“Now we’ll start to think about the Cup and the most important thing is to get through to the next round. We want to get the win and go through.
“I am not concerned about the refereeing for Wednesday's match. Everything is good in the dressing room, there are no problems at all.”
