Valverde: Forget Copa controversy

Valencia boss Ernesto Valverde has admitted that he has tried to isolate himself from the furore over their Copa del Rey loss against Real Madrid.

Los Che went down 2-0 to the Santiago Bernabeu side on Wednesday, but the match was overshadowed by a number of controversial refereeing decisions.

The 48-year-old however, has conceded that he has tried not to listen to those claims ahead of their rematch in the League this weekend.

“We have tried to isolate ourselves from all that noise,” he told a Press conference. “We played a good game but we also had our failings.

“Our intention is to focus on the game itself, because that's the only thing we can control.

“Everyone understands that refereeing errors are just part of the game. We were a little frustrated, but now we have another match to focus on.

“Both teams will be fighting for the three points, so I do not need to stress the importance of the game to anyone.”
