‘Madrid’s best was Di Maria’

David Albelda has taken to Twitter to fuel Valencia’s sense of injustice at losing to Real Madrid on Tuesday evening.

Los Che were defeated 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu in the midweek’s opening first leg quarter-final clash in the Copa del Rey.

However, the visitors were left incensed by a number of officiating decisions they felt incorrectly went against them.

These included a handball by Ricardo Carvalho in the Valencia penalty area, three offside calls that prevented Roberto Soldado from one-on-one situations and an alleged handball by Gonzalo Higuain in the build-up to Madrid’s second goal.

Angel Di Maria commented in the build-up to the game that Madrid had recently suffered deliberate mistakes against them and, in following Soldado’s post-match line, club captain Albelda has made clear his view on this online.

“The best player of Madrid has been Di Maria during the week,” he posted on Twitter.

“I am sorry but I like to speak my mind. Why am I crying? Because it is worth it…”
