Michel grateful to Sevilla

Michel Gonzalez has reflected on his sacking as Sevilla Coach and thanked the fans and the club for the experience.

After a poor run of form left the club in the wrong half of the table at the midway point of the season, the 49-year-old was removed from the bench and replaced with former Valencia boss Unai Emery on Monday evening.

“A little under a year ago I came to work in Sevilla with the dream of a child. Now I leave, I see this dream multiplied and turned into sentiment, that I have taken this opportunity to work at this club and live in this wonderful city,” Michel reflected in a statement released last night.

“Following on from my stint as Sevilla Coach I have only words of thanks to those who have given me a sense of commitment to this badge.

“From the fans I have received affection and the dregs of bitterness left by the results – the only valid judges. My grief is mixed with the joy of the experience of having shared this time with you.

“For all this and for everyone, thank you very much. Vamos Sevilla, vamos campeon!”
