Real Sociedad’s Uruguayan forward Diego Ifran is desperate to score against Real Madrid to impress his compatriots back home.

La Real, unbeaten in their last four away games, take on troubled Madrid at the Bernabeu this Sunday afternoon.

“It would be nice to score at the Bernabeu to start the year,” Ifran commented in an interview with Marca.

“I have never played against Real Madrid and have great enthusiasm for it. Moreover, in my country it will have great impact, because it looks different scoring against Barca or Madrid than it does against other teams.”

The 25-year-old has netted just once in 12 appearances this season.

“I have not been forceful in front of goal,” he admitted. “But the important thing is the team is operating well and scoring points.

“This will be a difficult game because Madrid are full of quality players, it doesn’t matter if they’re missing some. [Iker] Casillas? I don’t care whether he plays or not, every team has internal problems, when the game starts its forgotten.”
