Bigas wary of Atleti’s depth

Pedro Bigas does not believe that Atletico Madrid will be any easier to beat this weekend despite some notable absentees.

Radamel Falcao, Joao Miranda and Arda Turan are all missing for Diego Simeone’s side as they travel to Iberostar Stadium this Sunday evening.

However, opposition defender Bigas remains suspicious of Atleti’s strength in depth.

“Although they arrive with heavy casualties, that does not mean that we have to win,” he told reporters this week in anticipation of the Week 18 fixture.

“Sometimes they have been in the same situation and played just as well. With absences or not, Atletico Madrid are still the same team. Somehow they are second.”

After a good start to the season, a poor run of form has seen Mallorca slip to 16th in the table.

“Yes, we have not picked up the points so far and that is the most important thing if we are achieve survival this year.

“We have finished the holidays and must think about Sunday’s game. We will go against Atletico for the three points.

“Winning in a field like Betis’ gave us an added confidence and has made us eager to face this next game.

“But, we should not stay in the past, now we have to be focused on Sunday’s game and go out and win.”
