Coentrao out in January?

AS believe that Fabio Coentrao’s latest misdemeanour at Real Madrid sees Jose Mourinho happy to have him sold in January.

The Portuguese full-back has struggled for form and fitness in his 18 months so far at the Santiago Bernabeu and has dropped down the pecking list under Mourinho this term.

Reported last week as eager to leave the club at the end of the season, the player’s wish may be granted sooner, after he reportedly drew the ire of his Coach on Tuesday.

Mourinho had called the squad in on New Year’s Day for training, but Coentrao arrived over an hour late, just as some of his colleagues were coming to the end of their workout.

The Coach reportedly ‘exploded’ at the 24-year-old and is believed to have instructed club officials to accelerate plans to offload the €30m man. He is understood to be frustrated at Coentrao’s good form for his country only being matched with inconsistency on and off the pitch in the Spanish capital.

It is not the first time that the player has angered Mourinho, as he has arrived late to training twice before, last year he was also dropped from the team for coming back after Christmas out of shape, whilst he was also fined and left out of the team after his 24th birthday for being caught smoking.
