The young Belgian has impressed in La Liga and is currently midway through a second consecutive season on loan at the Calderon from Chelsea.
The 20-year-old, who cost the Stamford Bridge outfit £8m in the summer of 2011, is now reportedly a target for Barca, as a potential long-term replacement for Victor Valdes between the sticks.
The Sun allege that the Catalans have approached Chelsea with a view to striking a deal, but ‘without making a formal offer’ at this stage.
The Londoners have otherwise been reported as keen to bring Courtois back to them next summer to compete with Petr Cech for the No 1 spot in the Premier League side.
Yesterday saw Courtois in action against Barcelona in La Liga, a game in which he conceded four times to the League leaders.
