Barcelona tracking Courtois

Barcelona have reportedly sounded out officials at Chelsea regarding the future of goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

The young Belgian has impressed in La Liga and is currently midway through a second consecutive season on loan at the Calderon from Chelsea.

The 20-year-old, who cost the Stamford Bridge outfit £8m in the summer of 2011, is now reportedly a target for Barca, as a potential long-term replacement for Victor Valdes between the sticks.

The Sun allege that the Catalans have approached Chelsea with a view to striking a deal, but ‘without making a formal offer’ at this stage.

The Londoners have otherwise been reported as keen to bring Courtois back to them next summer to compete with Petr Cech for the No 1 spot in the Premier League side.

Yesterday saw Courtois in action against Barcelona in La Liga, a game in which he conceded four times to the League leaders.
