Barcelona’s Eric Abidal has admitted that he may not play professional football again, reflecting that he is prioritising his family life first.
The French defender has been out of action since undergoing a liver transplant in April of this year and rumours in recent weeks have suggested that he may not be able to return to playing for Barca again.
“My desire is to come back and currently I am very happy because I feel great,” reflected Abidal to TV3, who also reported on his recovery being ‘step by step’ right now.
“I want to play again but I have a family and I will not be taking any chances. The thing for me is they come first, then I do.
“If I can play then perfect, and if not then I can be with my family and the people who love me.”
