Xavi to sign new Barcelona contract

Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez is expected to sign a new two-year extension on his contract, tying him to the club until 2016.

Terra.es claim that the 32-year-old will put pen-to-paper on a new deal within the next three weeks after talks between his agent and vice-President Josep Maria Bartomeu were successful.

His initial contract had a clause that meant he could automatically extend after playing 50 per cent of the club's games in a season.

But the Spain international has negotiated a new deal that means he can extend no matter how many games he plays.
