Real Madrid assistant Aitor Karanka has praised Mesut Ozil after the German bagged a brace to give Los Blacos a 3-2 win over Real Valladolid.

The 24-year-old scored in either half to secure the capital club the three points, and Jose Mourinho's right-hand man has commended his performance.

“He's played really well,” Karanka told a Press conference. “But not just because of the goals.

“He has worked hard and has done what was asked of him. Everyone knows the quality he has, but his work without the ball was spectacular.

“We overcame two errors and eventually won, that was the important thing,” he continued. “We've done our bit now we have to wait and see what the others [Barcelona and Atletico Madrid] do.

“But the main thing is that we've done our bit.”
