Getafe, Real ‘in best form of year’

Luis Garcia believes that Getafe’s trip to Real Sociedad is a meeting between two teams both in their best form of the season.

Three wins on the bounce has pushed Garcia’s Getafe up into sixth place in the table, whilst a four-game unbeaten run for Real Sociedad has them just two points behind in ninth place.

“We are both in the best moment of the year, in terms of results and mood,” Garcia told reporters today, ahead of taking his side north to San Sebastian this Saturday.

“They are a great team, with speed and quality. They have a great line of three behind the front striker and they are at the same level as us.

“Xabi Prieto, Griezmann, Chori, Zurutuza, Vela, they have a line of three that is one of the best in the League. They have tremendous quality. We will have to manage the game well to get the points. the idea is to finish the game with them still behind us.

“A team that has 20 points are not doing things wrong,” continued Garcia, in reference to the pressure counterpart Philippe Montanier has previously come under at Anoeta this term.

“They are looking at Europe. I think they are playing well, Real are motivated, ambitious and we will have to play a good game to win.”

Garcia then turned attention and the mood around on his own side, criticising some of the players’ efforts in training this week.

“Training on Tuesday I did not like and I made it clear to them. They were relaxed, not giving 100 per cent, not going to the maximum. It was communicated to the players and they have since changed.

“We need to be ambitious and still wanting more. On Tuesday I gave the players a wake-up call because I did not like the training of seven or eight of them. I gave them a warning, they have reacted.”
