Europe doesn’t scare Real

Asier Illarramendi has reflected that the prospect of aiming for European qualification does not daunt Real Sociedad.

With 10 points collected from the last four La Liga games, Philippe Montanier’s side have risen to ninth in the League standings.

“The word ‘Europe’ does not scare us, rather it is an ambition. But, we are in a time when if we lose two games then we can fall down again,” commented young midfielder Illarramendi, who was forced to watch his team’s 5-2 win at Valencia last weekend at home, due to suspension.

“I enjoyed watching my teammates. They played a great game, scored five goals and everyone was very happy.

“I was glad for them. Now things will get more complicated for me to earn my place back, but here we are all working to convince our Coach.”

This weekend will see La Real host one of the sides directly above them in the table, sixth placed Getafe.

“They are going well in their own right, but at home we are looking to win the game, yes. They will be tough, they have more points than us so far.

“They are a strong set, with players from the Madrid youth team and several of international quality.”
