Pepe Mel praised his Real Betis side for maintaining a level of performance against Real Valladolid despite a number of changes.

“We maintained our level, despite the number of players to have entered the team for this game. It is probably the best example of our youth system.
“I can only be proud of the players. Betis want to have a good tournament this year because last year we did horribly.
“We want to go as far as we can. If [Last 16 opponents Las Palmas] were able to eliminate Rayo Vallecano, then they have a good team, people with experience.
“They are having a good season in the Segunda as well as in the Cup.”
