Ronaldo on Messi, Neymar, World Cup

Former Barcelona and Real Madrid striker Ronaldo has chatted Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo and advised Neymar on why Europe is in his future.

The 36-year-old, who scored 34 goals in 37 appearances for Barca and 83 goals in 127 apperances for Real Madrid during his time as a player, was once more asked in talking to the media who he preferred between Messi and namesake Cristiano.

“Messi and Cristiano are amazing, the two best players in the world, but Messi makes the game more enjoyable for fans,” reflected the retired Brazilian.

Ronaldo then turned his attention to compatriot Neymar, who is strongly linked with a move to Barcelona one day.

“I would recommend to Neymar that he goes to Europe. Besides being the home of football, it is a great cultural opportunity.

“It is a chance that should not be missed. In Europe, players become real people, especially so for the Brazilian footballers.

“I gained much, it was great to live in Europe for 18 years and I can say there is no university that can teach you everything I learned through playing football over there.”

Ronaldo is currently a member of the board of directors of the organising committee for the 2014 World Cup which will be hosted in Brazil.

“If I were a few years younger I would play again in [the new stadium] Maracana. Brazilian football will inherit a legacy from the 2014 World Cup.

“New stadiums, new footballing prospects. Everything will change a lot from 2014.”
