Madrid Copa score ‘unjust’

Alcoyano Coach Asier Garitano believes that the 3-0 defeat Copa defeat was not a fair reflection of their showing against Real Madrid.

The Segunda Division B outfit fell to the scoreline at the Santiago Bernabeu to be eliminated from the Round of 32 in the Copa del Rey with a 7-1 aggregate result.

However, for their Coach, there was a sense of injustice about this.

“Real Madrid played with the result. We lacked intensity in the first half, it was all too correct. We hardly hurt them and we lacked intensity,” lamented Garitano afterwards.

“In the second half we were better, but with one less the end proved too long. It was as unfair to lose 3-0 here as it was to concede four in the first leg.

“We have conceded too many goals. Against Real Madrid this is normal, but I do not like it.

“The red card? We could have equalised. At 1-0 we were not bad, we do not like the 3-0. We can now forget the Cup and focus on the League.”
