Depor more confident, says Aguilar

Deportivo La Coruna midfielder Abel Aguilar has spoken of increased confidence in the camp due to the 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao.

Aguilar’s goal levelled the scores at San Mames yesterday, giving the newly promoted Galicians an important point and some respite from their financial difficulties.

“The season is long but this result gives us confidence because it takes us out of the relegation zone,” declared the Colombian at a Press conference.

“I feel like one who provides and works to help the team achieve results. I feel very comfortable with my work.”

Aguilar then touched upon the importance of conceding only once, during a season where Depor have been notably leaky at the back.

“Defensively, it’s important to be solid. Teams are defined with style, defensive solidity and getting results. Our players have quality, but we must be strong.”

The 27-year-old looked forward to Wednesday’s Copa del Rey last 32 second leg against Real Mallorca, the score level at 1-1 after the first leg at Riazor.

“You have to face the competition with the utmost professionalism, leaving nothing behind. As a team every game has to be approached with enthusiasm and I think that’s what’s going to happen with this tie.”
