JIM: We went into shock

Juan Ignacio Martinez praised his side’s first-half display against Barcelona, but admitted that Levante ‘went into shock’ in conceding early in the second half.

Los Granotes fell to a 4-0 defeat in front of their home crowd, with all four goals coming in the second half.

“They played their football at 100 per cent, we have not been at our best. We conceded that first goal so quickly and fell apart a bit after it,” Martinez reflected.

“Barca has no thermometer, they are total predators. We are talking about a very talented team that with the minimal of errors can cost you a goal, as has been the case.

“We must congratulate them because in seven minutes they have sentenced us with some great goals, like Iniesta’s.

“The first half from us was gorgeous, we had chances to score. Barca are to be congratulated as they overcame this.

“I spoke about it beforehand, you have to be strong psychologically because they have the ball and when we conceded the first two goals we went into a state of shock.”
