Montanier looking for freshness

Philippe Montanier has reflected that his players’ recovery to full fitness will be the primary factor for picking a Real Sociedad team to face Osasuna tomorrow.

La Real were in action only on Monday evening and tomorrow night welcome their Basque rivals to Anoeta, with two days’ worth of recovery less than their opponents.

“It is true that always after a win you recover better, but these are players who do not have the habit of playing many games in a row and I’ll see today how the team is, because freshness is important in this game,” reflected the Frenchman at today’s Press conference.

“We cannot make many changes though, I can do two or three, but it depends on the freshness I see today. As I said, this factor is important.

“I hope that we recover, we have had two days less than our rivals. We have made an initial recovery training session for those who played, one more with intensity and then this afternoon is the usual routine before a game.”

Montanier’s concerns reflect on the fact he values the strength of opponents Osasuna.

“Osasuna are a strong team, who have made many changes from last season, but maintain the same playing philosophy. They will have their style and will be a tough opponent to face away. I think the game last season at Anoeta is a good example. We played a great game then, but could only get a draw.”
