‘The penalty? A bit dubious’

Sergio Ramos has commented that the penalty that saw Alvaro Arbeloa sent off and Manchester City equalise against Real Madrid last night was ‘a bit dubious’.

Arbeloa was adjudged to have felled Sergio Aguero running into the area, with it either for slight contact between their feet or for the full-back’s attempts to pull back the Argentine.

A spot-kick was awarded, which Aguero converted to rescure a point, whilst Arbeloa was dismissed for a second yellow card.

“We have suffered in the second half after their goal, I don’t usually talk about the referees, but we can say that it was a bit of a dubious penalty decision in favour of City,” commented Ramos at full-time.

“Even so, sometimes the refereeing benefits you and sometimes it goes against you.”
