Mourinho’s 100 CL games milestone

Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Manchester City on Wednesday has special significance for Los Blancos’ boss Jose Mourinho.

The game at the Etihad Stadium is the 100th time the Portuguese will have been in charge of a team in the competition, the fifth Coach to do so, and also makes him the youngest to have achieved the feat.

Mourinho overtakes current Paris Saint-Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti, who was 51 when he completed his centenary of games, and has now left such luminaries as Arsene Wenger, Ottmar Hitzfeld and Sir Alex Ferguson in his wake.

Forty-nine-year-old Mourinho made his debut in the competition with Porto at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid on February 19, 2002 and has coached four teams in the Champions League – Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid.

His record shows 54 victories, 25 draws and 20 defeats with 166 goals scored and 85 conceded, with his most successful spell having come with the Spanish champions – 20 wins, three losses and 70 goals.
