Salva apologises to Betis fans

Salva Sevilla was the only Real Betis player to attend the mixed zone at the Sanchez Pizjuan and apologised for his team’s 5-1 defeat.

The 28-year-old midfielder had seen his side comprehensively hammered by neighbours Sevilla and was at pains to point out his feelings lay with the Los Beticos’ supporters.

“We can only apologise to our fans because things did not go right from the start,” he reflected. “When they got the second goal it was a big blow for us and to go two goals down against opponents like Sevilla at this ground is very difficult.

“However, what we need to do now is continue to work hard and forget about this as soon as possible.

“Circumstances changed the game and when they got in front it allowed them to relax, but we must all take responsibility, not just the boss, because it is the players who make the decisions on the pitch.

“We will have to do much better against Real Madrid next week and try to put this game to one side,” he added.
