Ronaldo still unhappy at Madrid

A report in AS claims Cristiano Ronaldo is still unhappy at Real Madrid and in fact is closer to the the exit door than a contract extension.

The Portuguese claimed earlier this season he was ‘sad’ with some people at the club and AS maintains that his personal situation at the Santiago Bernabeu could even have worsened since then.

The reason given is that while Ronaldo feels he has the respect of the fans, he is still undermined by the Madrid hierarchy who have constantly portrayed him as the bad guy.

Matters are understood to have deteriorated further after last weekend’s game with Levante, when the former Manchester United man had to be substituted at half-time following a second-minute elbow from David Navarro that required stitches to an eye wound.

Instead of demanding more protection for their player, the club then issued a statement defending Pepe from claims surrounding events in the tunnel afterwards, something Ronaldo found hard to swallow particularly since rivals Barcelona continually back their star man Lionel Messi.

He is also reported to be yearning for a return to the Premier League, where he has said he would like to end his career, and in particular Sir Alex Ferguson.

“He has been like a father to me in football. He taught me lots of things and I have a great relationship with him,” Ronaldo recently told CNN.
