Griezmann sorry for France ban

Antoine Griezmann has apologised for his actions in mid-October that have seen him banned from national call-ups for a year.

The 21-year-old was recently handed a 13-month suspension from involvement with the French team at Under-21 and senior level for his part played in between the Under-21s’ two legs of their 2013 European Championship play-off with Norway.

Griezmann and a handful of his teammates left the team’s training camp in Normandy during the weekend between the two ties played to determine a place in next summer’s tournament in Israel to travel down to a nightclub in Paris.

“I am sorry for what I did and I now want to move on,” he told reporters after training with Real Sociedad today.

“There has been much attention around this issue, but it happened. Now it is all over I just want to give my best to La Real and for that I am counting on the support of family, friends and colleagues.”

Griezmann is currently recovering from a slight hamstring tear and confirmed that whilst he still working separate from the main group in training, he is close to returning to action.
