Manuel Pena passes away

Former Real Valladolid and Real Zaragoza footballer Manuel Pena has passed away at the age of 46.

Pena, who was capped at Under-18, Under-20, Under-21 and Olympic level with Spain, played in La Liga for Valladolid and Zaragoza during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

He also had spells with Cadiz and Ponferradina, the latter of whom he both began his career with and later retired from the game with in 2000.

Perhaps best remembered during his career for a hat-trick against Barcelona in December 1987 whilst with Valladolid, Pena passed away today at Ponferrada hospital after losing his fight against cancer, aged 46.
