Pique, Alves start for Barca

Gerard Pique is back for Barcelona, as Tito Vilanova reverts to a four-man defence, whilst Cristian Tello also starts.

Pique made his comeback from a long injury lay-off in midweek as a substitute at Celtic and this evening he returns to the starting line-up for the first time in two months.

It triggers a move back from the three-man defence that played against Celta Vigo last weekend to a four-man back-line. Dani Alves also makes a second start in a week, after beginning the game in Scotland on Wednesday.

In attack, from the last League outing in Week 10, B team player Tello takes Pedro Rodriguez’ space in attack, whilst Andres Iniesta also drops out from the first XI to the bench.

Meanwhile, hosts Mallorca make the one change from the side that lost at Deportivo last weekend, with Ximo Navarro back in defence after injury, meaning Emilio Nsue returns to midfield and Javier Arizmendi drops to the bench.

Starting line-ups

Mallorca: Aouate; Ximo, Geromel, Conceiao, Bigas; Nsue; Pina, Marti, Pereira; Victor, Hemed

Barcelona: Valdes; Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Jordi Alba; Xavi, Busquets, Fabregas; Tello, Villa, Messi
