Arsenal after Madrid’s Morata

Real Madrid’s young striker Alvaro Morata is the subject of continued interest from Premier League outfit Arsenal.

El Confidencial report today that the Gunners have been asking after the 20-year-old since September, when they allege that manager Arsene Wenger contacted officials at the club to enquire after his availability.

The response was a rejection both by the club and his player, who was understood to be intent on breaking into the first team under Jose Mourinho.

However, the striker who has 11 goals from 13 caps at Under-19 level, has no starts to his name for Real this term, with a number of call-ups to the matchday squad followed only by a failure to make the cut to sit on the bench.

It is reported that whilst the answer to Arsenal will still be no at this stage, that the Londoners maintain an interest.
