Philippe Montanier admits that he and his Real Sociedad players picked up that Malaga were tired in Saturday night’s match.
La Real ran out surprise winners at La Rosaleda for a first away win in the League since mid-January. The result also relieves some tension for the Coach, who had not won in the last four.
“We played well. It is true that Malaga have played a lot of games, one very difficult one in Milan. We have played a good game and noticed that Malaga were also a little tired,” Montanier remarked afterwards.
“We needed a win. The most important thing is the team, not me. The attacking set-up and its players worked. I like to play well.
“We had the right attitude and concentration for 90 minutes. The team has maintained a high level. Today, we found that little bit that we had lacked in other games to win.
“The victory is important after 10 months without an away win. I hope it’s the start of a great run.”
