Martinez hails Levante work ethic

Levante boss Juan Ignacio Martinez hailed his players’ work ethic following the 0-0 Europa League draw with Twente.

The point gained in Holland takes the Valencia-based club within two points of qualifying for the next round and Martinez was more than pleased with his team’s resilient performance.

“In this team everybody feels important and that shows in the way we play,” he told Levante’s official website.

“The level we worked at was very high and we closed off all Twente’s options in attack. It was very positive and we are happy with the draw.

“Our goalkeeper made two great saves but towards the end we had the chances to have won it through Angel and Barkero.”

Levante now have seven points from the opening four games but Martinez is still sounding a note of caution.

“We have taken an important step but it is a contained joy because we’ve not achieved anything yet.

“Now we must think of our next game against Real Madrid and we need to prepare for that, but playing against Madrid is a great motivation in itself,” he concluded.
