‘Caparros tells us to be careful’

Tomas Pina has revealed that Coach Joaquin Caparros has advised Mallorca’s players to go easy on each other in training, in reaction to an injury crisis.

The club have lost Jose Nunes, Antonio Lopez, Javi Marquez, Ximo Navarro, Joao Victor and Giovani dos Santos to mid-to-long-term injuries already this season.

Whilst Ximo, Marquez and Nunes have all returned to running in training this week, it is a run of injuries that has the Coach preaching caution to those still fit, as Pina revealed.

“It is a plague of injuries that greatly changes planning for the season and the development during it, and in our case even more so because we are a small squad,” the midfielder lamented today.

“Sometimes the Coach tells us to be careful because you have to be aware that the situation is uncomfortable and if you can avoid a collision in training, then the better.

“However, there is no fear amongst the players, we are just taking into account the situation.”

The situation is also uneasy on the field with a five-game losing streak to try and counter this weekend at home to Barcelona.

“We are going through a difficult time, but the season is long and the team are remaining emotionally stable, this Mallorca can still give much more of itself. The game with Barca will be uncomfortable.”
