‘Levante not through yet’

Pedro Rios has warned his Levante teammates that qualification to the knockout stages of the Europa League is not yet secure.

The Spanish can qualify for the next stage of the competition in their debut season in Europe, if they win away to Twente this Thursday and Helsingborg do not defeat Hannover in the other match.

However, Rios has warned that this is no certainty and that he and his teammates must remember that.

“We are wrong to think that we have done enough to progress because we have not. This group can still take many turns in one direction or another,” commented the midfielder today.

“We go there knowing that it will be difficult, but we have a good chance to continue making history, we need to stay clam and try to progress to the next phase with two rounds remaining.”

The Andalucian reflected that the 3-0 win over Twente in matchday three will not have any bearing on Thursday’s meeting.

“The reverse game against the Dutch is forgotten. If we get maximum points here then we’d be happy, but if we don’t then we would still have two more games to play, so we must be patient.

“We are very well organised and we will not make things easy. Twente are a team of quality, they will have many chances and they have a lot of talent, we will create much danger for ourselves if we allow them to play.”
