Celtic manager Neil Lennon has described his side's game plan against Barcelona tomorrow as realistic, not defensive.
The Scottish champions were seconds away from snatching a point at Camp Nou in the reverse fixture but were criticised afterwards by former Barca midfielder Bernd Schuster amongst others for a perceived negative approach.
“I'm not angry with the accusations but a little disappointed,” the Northern Irishman told members of the media at Celtic Park.
“I reviewed the first game and I'm proud of the players performance. I've seen Barca with 70-80 per cent possession many times, even against Chelsea and Real Madrid. We have no reason to expect to have the ball.
“Against Barca you have to play your best, with full concentration and intensity, and even then sometimes that's not enough. Anything can happen and hopefully we'll catch them on a bad night or at a bad time.”
Celtic are second in Champions League Group G but go into the game in disappointing form having taken one point from the last six available in the SPL.
“We will never try to be defensive,” Lennon continued. “But we will have a realistic game plan. Barca have great quality and rhythm and know how to attack. They're the best passing team in the world and we'll be chasing the ball for long periods whatever happens.”
