First injury absence for Griezmann

Real Sociedad will be without Antoine Griezmann today in the League through injury for the first time since he debuted in 2009.

The youth product is out of action for La Real’s lunchtime kick-off with Espanyol with a grade I hamstring tear.

This injury, according to Mundo Deportivo, is the first in Griezmann’s senior career to force him to miss a League match for the Anoeta side.

Griezmann has missed a handful of games for Real Sociedad since making his debut in 2009, but reportedly only through technical decisions, such as a disciplinary instance in his first season for breaking curfew seeing him sit out two matches.

Suspension has previously also seen him missing from La Real’s first XI, whilst he has also missed playing so as to be rested. However, today’s fixture will be the first in the League that physical injury has prevented him taking part in.
