One game bans for Jemez, Alonso

The Competition Committee have revealed the lasted list of suspensions in La Liga and Rayo Vallecano boss Paco Jemez is out for one game, for the moment.

The Coach was dismissed during the second half of his side’s defeat at home to Barcelona for protesting. However, the punishment stands at just a single game for the time being, whilst the Committee wait to hear from the fourth official at the game.

Confusion surrounds whether Jemez was dismissed outright or just warned for his actions on the sidelines and subsequently whether he incorrectly protested to the fourth official, as the referee had recorded in his notes, or if his refusal to leave the sidelines outright was correct.

The tactician could have his suspension doubled depending on the outcome of the Committee’s meeting with the fourth official.

Meanwhile, Manolo Jimenez has avoided any punishment as his alleged falling out with the match officials at the weekend was cleared up.

The referee for his Real Zaragoza’s win over Sevilla asked the Coach to move his position in the stands as it was originally deemed too close to the bench. The Committee clarified today that Jimenez moved accordingly and without issue, so avoids an extension to his touchline ban.

Elsewhere, Espanyol’s Victor Sanchez and Juan Forlin, Rayo’s Jordi Amat, Real Madrid’s Xabi Alonso and Real Valladolid’s Alvaro Rubio have all been handed one-game sanctions for accumulating five yellow cards.

Celta Vigo’s Gustavo Cabral is also suspended for one game, for his two yellows picked up in the weekend’s Galician derby with Deportivo.
