Villa: It’s hard to score in a clinic

David Villa responded with irony when reminded after the Alaves game he had not scored in two consecutive matches for 12 months.

“Yes, it is difficult to score in a clinic,” the smiling Barcelona striker told a Press conference after notching the first goal in the 3-0 first leg Copa del Rey victory at Mendizorroza, before referring to his substitution.

“I’m in the excellent hands of people who know what I require. I want to play as much as possible but there is another game on Saturday and I want to be ready for that,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Cesc Fabregas reflected on his recent relative poor run of form but said he had never lost faith in his ability.

“I’m confident in my own ability and despite any criticism I’ve always worked hard to be one of the team and perform at my best level,” said the former Arsenal man, who headed home the third goal of the night from a Dani Alves cross.
